Renowned Nollywood Actor Chikezie Uwazie Passes Away in The United States [Details]

The Nigerian film industry, known as Nollywood, is once again experiencing sadness as another actor, Chikezie Uwazie, has passed away shortly after the deaths of two well-known actors, Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi.

Uwazie, according to reports, passed away in the United States of America a few days following his second brain surgery.

It was reported that Chikezie Uwazie's fellow colleague, Obey Etok Chima, shared the news of the actor's passing on her Facebook page on Sunday. In her post, she expressed her disbelief, saying, "I can't believe I'm posting this. Chikezie Uwazie is no longer with us. He underwent a second brain surgery. What a surprise. I am incredibly shocked to receive this news tonight. I just learned about it from our IMSU alumni platform."

“I thought you told me you were going to the states for greener pastures. You promised to come back some years back but I didn’t see you. Can’t believe you are gone but God knows best. Rest on Chyko.”

Nevertheless, It was observed on Monday morning that, Obey Etok Chima had either concealed or removed the post.

Uwazie's passing marks the third sorrowful incident to occur in Nollywood over the past three days, following the unfortunate deaths of Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi.

Chikezie Uwazie, a prominent figure in Nollywood during the early 2000s, departed from Nigeria for the United States more than seven years ago.

Prior to moving, he appeared in multiple Nollywood films, such as "Musical Whispers," a movie about Autism, which was produced by Ebele Okaro and directed by Bond Emeruwa. He also had roles in "Village Destroyer," alongside Osita Iheme and Ugo Ugbor, and "Last Kiss," where he shared the screen with Emeka Ike, Ini Edo, Ejike Asiegbu, and Mercy Johnson Okojie, among numerous other movies.
