Transport Fares To Be Reduced Effective May 17 [Details]

Starting from Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Ghanaians, particularly those who use public transportation, will benefit from a 10 percent decrease in fares. This reduction is a result of the ongoing decrease in the prices of petroleum products within the country over the past few weeks.

In accordance with the Administrative Arrangement on Public Transport Fares, a press release signed by Emmanuel Ohene Yeboah, the General Secretary of the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council, and Godfred Abulbire, the General Secretary of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, states that the decision has been made to adjust fares due to the decrease in the prices of petroleum products during this period.

The announcement revealed that the revised prices will have an impact on various types of transportation, including shared taxis, local city buses (known as "trotros"), long-distance intercity buses, and large commercial vehicles used for hauling goods.

Commercial transportation companies, on the other hand, are encouraged to adhere to the updated prices and display them at their designated departure points.
