B.E.T award-winning rapper, Sarkodie has addressed a few issues in his latest single “Landlord.”
“Landlord” which addresses South African rapper, Nasty C’s allegations about the rapper back in November, also touches on some political issues.
In “Landlord” Sarkodie once again solidifies his stance of campaigning for Nana Akufo-Addo in the December 2020 elections and states that he has no regrets.
According to Sarkodie, he benefitted from the “free education”policy put in place by President Nana Akufo-Addo back in 2017, hence his decision to campaign for him for another term. However, propagandists twisted his intentions and made it all about politics.
“Lack of Knowledge my people perish, Politics and reality what do you cherish. “Nana Toaso” I believed it when I said it because free education helped me yeah I deserve some credit. But as soon as some people heard it, turned into politics fabricating propagating propaganda opposition was spreading it. I ask myself it I regret it, nah if they want to kill me than I’m ready,” Sark raps.
Over the last quarter of 2022, the rapper had been challenged by his fans and followers on social media to speak on the economic climate at the time. However, Sarkodie turned a deaf ear, and in this new single, the “No Pressure” rapper asserts that he only speaks on issues when he’s moved.
“Now back to the main topic. I wasn’t going to talk but damn I said f**k it. I only speak when I’m moved I’m like a prophet,” Sark states.
Sarkodie ends his 2minutes 44 seconds long freestyle by coming after politicians and warning the citizens to stay vigilant as yet another election season draws near.
“People will suffer but it’s the government that profits. So when will you people stop it. Anyone who steals, it’s the politicians who taught them their skills. The insults come from being a fool so please keep your stinking mouth shut because it’s the opposition taking care of your bills. So, now tell me how it feels. It’s about to be election time again and politicians will buy your votes again with rice. They will wear t-shirt, come beg you to vote for them and when they win, they will go for their V8 and wear their suit, same episode,” he concludes.
