With two matches to spare, the German National Team has qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Finals by winning Group J. They are the first nation in the world besides the host nation of Qatar to qualify for next year’s tournament. Coming into the match Germany needed to win and Armenia couldn’t lose to Romania. Germany took care of business with a 4-0 win in North Macedonia, while Armenia couldn’t get the job done in Romania — losing 1-0.
After losing to North Macedonia in Germany in the first meeting, Germany coasted to an easy victory with all four goals coming in the second half. Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller assisted the first two goals from Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. Werner also scored the third goal followed by Bayern’s Jamal Musiala’s first international goal to make it 4-0.
The four-time world champions will be making their 18th consecutive appearance and 20th overall appearance in the World Cup Finals. After a disappointing showing in the 2018 Finals in Russia, Germany will have high hopes for former Bayern Munich boss, Hansi Flick and die Mannschaft.
